Majestic Vikrant-Aircraft Carrier

Commissioned in 1961, Vikrant provided the much needed fillip on the Eastern C oast during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. This Majestic, aircraft carrier was in service for more than 30 years , till it was de-commissioned. She now rests along-side a berth in Naval Dockyard, Mumbai waiting to be converted into a maritime museum. I.N.S Viraat is now the only aircraft carrier in the Indian Naval Service. 2011 will be the golden jubilee of the commissioning of this fine ship as also the air squadrons which flew from this carrier.

  1. I am extremely happy to see that the Naval Philatelic Society (India) started a blog and I congratulate its president, Secretary, and founding members for the wonderful efforts put in over many years and continuing the same with with more vigour. India in particular and many countries in the world have produced wonderful stamps on the Naval Philately, and collecting and studying and exhibiting them is a great joy. I wish to congratulate the Naval Philatelic society for the wonderful blog.
